NFL Playoffs

2007

The playoffs are right around the corner and the Patriots and Cowboys have the best chance at reaching the Super Bowl. What a shock that must be!! The Patriots are looking for a perfect regular season Saturday night versus the Giants, who yet again backed into the playoffs, and will get that all-important 16th win. Stay tuned for playoff predictions round by round.

Wild Card Playoffs: Round One: I will take the Jacksonville Jaguars over the Pittsburgh Steelers in PA. The Chargers will roll over the visiting Tennessee Titans in San Diego for the first round of the AFC playoffs. In the NFC, the Buccaneers of Tampa Bay will turn away the hapless, limp into the playoffs, Giants of New York while my upset pick of the week comes from Seattle as the Seahawks will fall to the visiting Washington Redskins who throttled the Cowboys in the final week of the season, 27-6.Stay tuned for the Divisional round picks coming next week.

Results of Round One: Well, I was 2 for 2 in the AFC but 0 for 2 in the NFC. Not shocking. Even though David Garrard almost blew the game the Jags still pulled one out, 31-29, and the Chargers didn’t roll over the Titans but they still came out victorious 17-6. Not bad in one conference. In the NFC things were a little different, actually a lot different. The Redskins were throttled by the Seahawks, 35-14 and the Giants, who were 0-2 against Jeff Garcia in the playoffs, actually knocked off the Bucs, 24-14.

Divisional Playoffs: Round Two: Now for the Divisional picks. I will take the Giants falling in Dallas, the Packers pulling out a tough one at Lambeau, the Patriots will handle the Jags, and my upset pick of the week will see the Chargers knock off the Colts for the second time this season (23-21). The defending champs will fall at home, o well.

Results of Round Two: I was correct for two of the games so far. Although, I did say that the Packers would win a tough one, it wasn’t so tough after all was it? They knocked off the Seahawks handily, 42-20 on a snow-covered Lambeau Field. The other game saw the Patriots eliminate Jack Del Rio’s Jaguars in a closer game than most expected, 31-20 in Foxboro. Now we must wait until Sunday is over to see if I go four for four in my picks this week. Stay tuned for results and my picks for the conference champions. Well, Sunday didn’t go as good as I had planned. I went 1-2. My upset pick came true as the Chargers eliminated the defending world champs at home, 28-24. My other pick though wasn’t as fruitful. The Giants made the Cowboys look like cowgirls, and made T.O. cry with their 21-17 upset win.

Conference Championships: Round Three: This week I will take the Patriots over the upstart Chargers and the Packers over the Giants on another snow covered Lambeau Field. Stay tuned for the results and the Super Bowl pick.

Results of Round Three: Well not so lucky in this round. I was right on with the Patriots beating the Chargers but when the real Brett Favre returned to the field against the Giants I lost, and so did the Packers. Well you can’t win them all can you? Unless you are the Patriots of course.

Super Bowl: The Final Game: For game number nineteen of the season for the Patriots I will take them 28-21 over the Giants in a hard fought game. I have a feeling that this year’s Bowl will be one of the better ones we’ve seen in quite a few years. After the week 17 game between these two teams, the competition can only get better and more exciting.

Results of the Super Bowl: As much as I don’t want to admit it, congratulations to the New York football Giants for knocking off the previously undefeated Patriots (18-1), 17-14 in the 42nd Super Bowl contest. Plaxico Burress not only guaranteed a win, he caught the winning touchdown. Congratulations again. Stay tuned for a season in review blog and I look forward to predicting next season’s playoffs, although they might not be as exciting as this year’s. We can only wait and see.
