Well, obviously I was wrong. I could have sworn that the Cowboys would be traveling to Lambeau Field for the NFC Championship game. I guess not. The Cowboys, with the Packers loss to the Bears, have home field advantage throughout the Conference playoffs. Not bad for a team that lost to the Eagles 10-6 and barely beat the lowly Carolina Panthers 20-13. Now it is time to see if the Packers can first, make it to the title game of the conference and if they do, will they face the ‘Boys? If so, can the Packers win on the road, where they picked up their first loss of the season? Only time will tell. We have to wait and see. Enjoy the playoffs.

16-0: As Rod Stewart once said; “Tonight’s the night.” It’s Saturday across the country and the game most of us have been waiting for is finally here. The Patriots travel to Giants Stadium to take on the Giants in search of their 16th win of the season against ZERO losses. As much as I am sick of Boston sports teams, I hope the Patriots win it all and stick it to the 1972 Dolphins who toast champagne every time an undefeated team loses. By the way, the Dolphins had the third easiest run to the Super Bowl in NFL history. Just a note of importance.

UCF vs. Miss. St. (Liberty Bowl): Finally a bowl game with a little bit of defense. The score was tied at 3 apiece with 1:57 left in the fourth quarter. That’s all I’m asking for. All these games with total output of points ranging from 50 to 86 between the two teams gets old quick. Don’t get me wrong, I love blowouts and even close high-scoring games, but every now and then it is nice to watch a game highlighted by the two defenses. Final score: 10-3 Miss. St.

16-0 @ the Expense of the Giants: Wow! What a game. Not only did the Patriots finish the regular season 16-0, they proved to the entire NFL Nation that there really might not be a team that can knock them off. The Giants hung tough but the Patriots kept scoring, something they did all season. Congratulations New England, now its time to win three more and yet another Super Bowl!

BCS! Time To Rip It Again: Well I have said it enough the past couple of days but this system is utterly flawed. I mean come on, LSU is playing in the title game with two losses, two losses, even though I hope they knock off Ohio State. Take a look at the Orange Bowl, Kansas upset the No. 3 team in the nation in VT, and Kansas finished the season with a 12-1 record and the AP Coach of the Year on their sideline. The Fox network’s new slogan for the BCS should be ‘Home for all the BCS BS you can handle.’ Yet another team gets shafted from the national title game who should be playing in it.

Super Bowl: The talk of the game will more than likely be the developments in the spygate controversy involving US Senator Arlen Specter and former Patriots video assistant Matt Walsh. I had a feeling that this problem wasn’t going to go away anytime soon. This will linger for years to come, with unknown repercussions.

Chuck Knoblauch: He met with lawyers of a House committee regarding being named in the Mitchell Report and being linked to steroids and HGH. He declined to divulge any information that he provided the lawyers. His personal lawyer said that Knoblauch answered all the questions. We could possibly find out what he said to those lawyers on February 13th, when the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee investigating steroid use in baseball holds a public hearing.

Bob Knight: The man with the most wins in division 1 (902), has resigned from Texas Tech tonight. He will hand over the reigns to his son. Bobby, not to burst your retirement bubble or ruin your party, but you should have done this a long time ago, a long time ago.

Red Sox: The team did not show up on the field Wednesday for their game versus the Blue Jays in protest to their coaches not being paid their $40,000 stipend for the team’s trip to Japan on March 25 and 26. The team also threatened not to board the plane for Japan, voting unanimously against playing on Wednesday.
