2007: A Look Back at The Season in the Bigs

The 2007 season in MLB was one for the ages. There were surprises abound from division winners to league champions to unimaginable heroes. We will take this opportunity to look back at the 2007 season as a prelude to my 2008 preview that will be arriving in a few weeks. From the Rockies to the Mitchell Report, plenty of surprises took place in the 2007 season.

NFL: The 2007 Season That Was

Wherever one looks, nothing but shock and surprise surround this season in the NFL. Just look at Sunday night’s finale, Super Bowl XLII, with the Giants upsetting the previously undefeated Patriots (18-1), 17-14 in Glendale, AZ. A 19-0 team was not meant to be this time around. The Patriots had the talent and smarts to win it all, including every single game, they were just too cocky and yes, outplayed by the Giants.

For this season in review we will look at each division and its winner, the surprises from teams and individuals throughout the regular season, as well as the surprises from the playoffs. A little later on (this will probably be an enormous article), we will look at the Patriots’ attempt at perfection and the records they shattered on the way to another Super Bowl appearance. Lebron vs. Kobe: Career vs. Career

Sports is an outlet for many people to voice their opinions of players and teams, debate with friends over who is the best player in the history of a specific sport, or which team is the greatest of all time. This is a blog designed partly for the reasons listed above. Now its time for me to put my two cents in regarding a debate that has become pretty heated within the past couple of seasons in the NBA; Lebron vs. Kobe. Not head to head in a game, but head to head in talent, skills, leadership, and career numbers. Lebron vs. Kobe: Who will be remembered more for their accomplishments? Who will be the most successful NBA player out of the two?

In this his 12th season in the league, Bryant has surpassed many of the expectations that fans and his franchise dreamed of when he was drafted right out of Lower Merion High School by the Charlotte Hornets with the 13th overall pick. Bryant never played a game for the Hornets, who traded him to the Lakers for Vlade Divac, the then starting center for Los Angeles. Bryant was also the first guard in league history to be drafted into the NBA right out of high school.
